My review:

I was in two minds about reading this book...

On the one hand I was desperate to get a copy. I'd only recently read 'The Salt Path' and thought it astonishing, and naturally I wanted more.

But on the other hand, 'The Salt Path' was so beautifully written and had such a unique story, told with such passion and conviction that I was convinced a second book couldn't match it.

'The Wild Silence' was just as good!

Her writing is extraordinary. I felt calm, safe and reassured with each reading, completely engrossed by every page.

Now Raynor and her husband, Moth have a house. Despite his terminal diagnosis, he continues to do well. But they are struggling to settle in their new life missing the freedom and the natural environment.

Incredibly they are given the opportunity to breathe new life into a neglected farmhouse and with their tireless spirit they seek to rewild the land.

Raynor tells of this new adventure, relating their initial struggles and worries, while also interspersing details of how her writing of 'The Salt Path' came about and how it was received.

Once again this is an astonishing, exceptional story of hope triumphing over despair and a world of possibilities. It's wonderful!
