My review:

When we're told that everyone uses the internet these days to look up the answers they need to life's puzzles and problems, it's been great to see this book prove a shock bestseller - released last month, it quickly went out of stock with the publishers rushing to make more copies available.

Almost 500 pages full of stunning photography and bold illustrations, it provides a colourful and lively collection of fascinating facts, grouped thematically. Unlike old encyclopedias that are structured from A to Z, this book takes you on a journey from the beginning of time and into the future. There are eight subject headings - Universe, Earth, Matter, Life, Humans, Ancient & Medieval Times, Modern Times, and Today & Tomorrow.

It's perfect for dipping into or poring over for hours, and will appeal to any child from 7 to 70 (cliché, I know, but this really is a fabulous book, full of surprises!).
