Details for 'Someone Like Me' by Penny Lancaster
Someone Like Me

Her life seems charmed and privileged. She's married to rock superstar Sir Rod Stewart, has a loving family and good friends, lives and holidays in beautiful places, and enjoys exciting opportunities through challenges she's grasped in reality TV.
But it hasn't all been plain sailing. In this book Penny shares how she was bullied at school, struggled with her studies because of undiagnosed dyslexia and, as she made her way for herself as a model, experienced a harrowing sexual assault.
Even the early years of her relationship with Rod had its challenges. But in everything, she has a positive, warm and generous attitude to life and all the people she comes alongside.
Despite all the wealth, status and opportunities she enjoys through her marriage, Penny has determined to be her own person. She trained as a photographer and has become a TV personality, embracing the challenges offered through 'Strictly Come Dancing', 'Celebrity MasterChef', 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' and she is a guest panellist on 'Loose Women'.
What's more her increasing profile has meant that she has become much in demand as a campaigner and ambassador for charities and causes. She speaks widely and passionately about menopause issues, after her own misdiagnosis during lockdown. And she volunteers as a Special Constable with the City of London Police. She had been invited to take part in a tv series called 'Famous and Fighting Crime'. She enjoyed it so much, she quietly undertook training to continue when the filming stopped. It's only in recent times that she's been quite so public about her continuing duties.
It's a very readable, encouraging book as Penny seeks to see the positive in every situation, and to contribute to improve the lives of others. Very inspiring!
