Strike

This is the second book by a Norwich bookseller, and he continues his footballing theme - his first book was 'Kick'.
Owen dreams of becoming a Premiership footballer. He works hard for his local team, coached by his dad, alongside his friend Teddy. Things haven't been easy for him, either. His mum died in a car crash and both Owen and his dad are still grieving.
But a visit by a scout sees Owen, and Teddy, offered an amazing opportunity to try out at the academy of a national team. This could be his big break. He just has to work hard.
He soon finds, though, that there's a darker side to the game - corruption and exploitation in the sportswear company associated with the owner of the team.
When Owen finds a cry for help in a note inside his new boots, he resolves not to stay silent. Chasing his dream must take second place to standing up for what is right.
A fabulous read which is perfectly paced with great characters and a powerful message.
