How to steal the future

My review:

Twelve-year-old Drew has entered the maze. His sister went in before him but hasn't returned and he needs to go and find her.

But at the heart of the maze is a secret, known as the Avenir, which has the power to unlock the future. No one has succeeded in gaining it but Drew must try in order to save his sister Evie.

He is tireless in his efforts, facing dead ends, traps and double-crosses, and meets others like him who are trying to find their way.

This is a slow reveal of a book. We're immediately thrown into the maze with Drew and the pace is relentless, the tension high and the reason behind his quest, mysterious.

It's only in the very final pages that the facts are revealed explaining why Drew is here, why Meg is helping him, and what has really happened to Evie. Very clever.
