The Great Barrier Reef
by Helen Scales and Illustrated by Lisa Feng

As the world's biggest coral reef, stretching 2,300km along the Australian coast, The Great Barrier Reef covers an area the size of 70 million football fields!

Written by marine biologist Dr Helen Scales, there is so much to take on board here but all the facts are presented in an engaging and accessible way.

A number of the individuals responsible for the discovery of facets of the reef are presented as mini biographies and the reader is encouraged to think about how they might contribute to the future of this extraordinary part of the world.

Climate change is explained, of course, and the impact of plastics, but this is a book of hope and wonder.

Although the hardcover picture book format suggests this is aimed at young children, the sophisticated drawings and the vast spread of detailed information means it is a title readers aged seven years upwards will pore over for hours.
