The latest, the eighth, novel about private detectives Comoran Strike and Robin Ellacott, topped the charts in its first week, selling an impressive 53,207 copies (second place, 'Fearful' by Lauren Roberts, sold just 16,518 copies). And this with a cover price of £30 - though as it spans 898 pages, that's quite good value! Fans of the series are clearly eager for this latest instalment.

All the usual components of a Robert Galbraith novel are here - the duo are juggling work for numerous clients while dealing with various issues concerning their growing team of detectives at the agency, and also contending with their own increasingly complicated personal issues.

Their biggest job this time is seeking to uncover the identity of a dismembered corpse discovered in the vault of a silver shop. Their client believes it's the father of her child but the police disagree. And as Robin and Strike investigate it seems it could be any one of a number of missing men.  

It's a complicated case but of course avid readers will be most interested in how the two heroes are getting along...

Robin is becoming increasingly committed to boyfriend, policeman Ryan Murphy, and Strike has come to the conclusion that he needs to declare his own feelings for her. But will he ever find the right moment and how might Robin respond?

Fans will love this and there's plenty of story to get stuck into! I couldn't put it down but wanted more in the Robin and Strike dynamic!
