I'm a huge fan of Sarah Crossan's writing. This is her latest, just published, which is once again written as a verse novel.

In all her books for young adult readers, she tackles difficult subjects with great sensitivity but in a gripping tale with immense impact. Take a look at 'Moonrise' about Death Row in the US and 'One' about conjoined twins. 

Connie is taken from her home in the middle of the night. At first she fears she's been abducted and believes that her dad will do what he can to get her released. But then she finds out it was her dad who gave the instruction.

She has been taken to Silver Lake Academy – a remote, high-security facility for ‘troubled’ teens. Here the vulnerable and the violent are locked up together under a brutal regime that aims to improve their behaviour.

As Connie tries to come to terms with her new life, and what led to her being placed here, she learns she’s been given the bed of a missing girl named Belle. Gradually she finds out something of Belle's story and is drawn into a sinister web of secrets and lies.

This is another brilliant book by Crossan. The characters are intriguing and the story is gripping and affecting. Her writing is fantastic!
