There's such magic, such romance about train travel, and particularly a sleeper train, though I actually found one night on the Orient Express not particularly restful. I'm sure I would have got used to the rocking and creaking if I'd had more nights aboard!

This is the tale of a little girl who boards a train with her family to travel across country overnight. 

At first she struggles to get to sleep. There's too much to see and to take in, so she thinks about how she's got to sleep in other unusual, unfamiliar settings. 

And she wonders who might also be awake like her and the train driver as they hurtle through the cities and countryside of India.

Eventually she dozes and is surprised when she wakes again and discovers they've reached their destination - a new day in a new place, with new adventures in store.

It's a simply told story but a train journey never disappoints. A charming, delightful book.
