This is a bestseller in Denmark and has just been published in the UK. It featured on BBC Radio 4's Book at Bedtime earlier this month.

It's the memoir of a woman who decides, at the start of the year, to see all of the country's butterfly species in a single summer. 

Being a bit of a cynic, this seems rather a contrivance in order to write a book! The author doesn't know anything about butterflies and she doesn’t know why she wants to see them. And what happens if she can't see all the butterflies in a season? Well, nothing, really. 

However, it's a gentle amble through Danish life and countryside, and an excuse to explore the role butterflies have played in history, myth and philosophy as well as meeting interesting people and learning more about these beautiful creatures and our natural world.
