A fox, living alone in the forest, receives a strange letter inviting him to solve a puzzle. Will the reader find the answer before the fox? They will also learn about friendship, forgiveness and opening up about your feelings, along the way.

Fox is happy living in the forest. He doesn't need any company and he has plenty to keep him occupied. 

But one day he receives a letter saying: "Dear Fox: I know how much you enjoy puzzles. I bet you can’t resist this one...Head to the forest path to begin your journey. From an old friend."

Fox isn't interested in mysteries or puzzles, or remembering old friends. But it wouldn't hurt to take a look at the first clue, and quickly he's hooked, following arrows, notes, maps and smoke signals.

He's led on a trail that reminds him of an old friendship. Will he be reunited?

This is a lovely idea, beautifully done which won the Picture Book prize at the 2026 Indie Book Awards, chosen by independent bookshops in the UK. The book was also included as one of the Best Books of 2025 by the Financial Times. It's aimed at readers aged three upwards.
