My book review of 'The Winter Guest' by Sarah Moss

It's Christmas Eve on the coast of Ireland and a man and woman, both guests at a hotel, are waiting for their meals in the restaurant.
As a blizzard rages outside, they decide to share a meal together and while away the time with good food and wine, and conversation.
'Tell me the worst thing you've ever done,' challenges Janice of Gerry. And they both make their confessions.
This premise reminded me of the (rather odd) film 'The Drama'. What do they hope to achieve with these confessions? Do they hope to shock? To get endorsement for their actions? To be absolved of their guilt?
Courses are delivered and taken away, each one a delicious dish, served by their companionable waiter. And as the candles flicker, the revelations have far reaching consequences.
There are just the three characters, and the one setting, and a twist. This is a perfect book for the winter months.
I have enjoyed other books by Sarah Moss, among them there's 'The Fell' and 'Summerwater'.
