Mooncat and Me
by Lydia Corry

Moving house and starting at a new school can be frightening and upsetting, but not if you have a huge white cat by your side.

Fun, colourful and lively illustrations and a simple story show how to overcome anxiety with a little imagination.

All the noise and activity of a new city could be exciting but not when you don't know anyone and are struggling to find your way around.

Pearl thinks it's best to stay home. She doesn't feel brave enough to go out and explore.

But then she looks out of the window and sees a huge, really huge white cat.

She calls her new friend, Mooncat and they go everywhere together. Little by little Pearl grows in confidence, reassured by having Mooncat alongside.

This is a gentle, amusing story about the power of imagination and determination in overcoming fears and anxiety. The illustrations are wonderfully busy and cheery, though I did find Mooncat scarily large at times! Aimed at children aged four upwards, but there's something for all ages to enjoy.
